Send Vitals events to Klaviyo
Last updated on October 31, 2026
Vitals can send what shoppers do in your apps to your Klaviyo account: a review written, a restock alert sent, a wishlist price drop, an upsell offer accepted, a pop-up discount used, a parcel delivered. Each one arrives in Klaviyo as a metric with the Vitals name and icon, so you can start flows and build segments on it.
Will this change my existing Klaviyo flows? No. Vitals never creates, copies or edits your Klaviyo flows. Your flows, lists and list sync keep working exactly as they do now. Events are new metrics you can use as flow triggers. If you don't build a flow on them, nothing happens.
What you need
- Klaviyo connected to Vitals through the new connection (an approval in Klaviyo, no API key). See Connect Klaviyo to Vitals in three steps.
- The apps whose activity you want to send, installed and in use.
1. Switch to the new connection, or approve the events permission
Go to Integrations in Vitals and find the Klaviyo card. Under Klaviyo events you see one of these:
- Switch to the new Klaviyo connection to send events. You are connected with an API key. A Send your app activity to Klaviyo banner at the top of the Klaviyo card explains that activity from Vitals apps can start Klaviyo flows. Select Switch to the new connection in the banner, approve Vitals in Klaviyo, and you return to Vitals. Your list keeps syncing during and after the switch. If you have any app that can send Klaviyo events enabled, this banner stays until you switch. If none are enabled, you can dismiss it.
- Approve Klaviyo's new permission to send events. You are on the new connection, but it was approved before events existed. Select Approve in Klaviyo and allow the new permission.
- Reconnect Klaviyo to send events. The connection stopped working (for example, access was revoked in Klaviyo). Select Reconnect on the card.
Events are never sent through an API key connection.
With a working Klaviyo connection, the page of each app that can send events also shows a row for sending that app’s activity to Klaviyo. The row lists the app’s events and shows On only when its events switch is enabled and the connection can send events. Select the link in the row to open the Klaviyo card under Integrations and change the setting.
If you have an app that can send Klaviyo events enabled, select See flow ideas on the Klaviyo card. If you use an API key connection, the link is in the switch banner; otherwise, it is under Klaviyo events. It opens Flow ideas for your apps, where you can find starter flow ideas and instructions for building them in Klaviyo. Ideas are shown for enabled apps even if their events switch is off.
2. Turn on the apps that should send events
Each app has its own switch, for example Product Reviews events or Wishlist events. Each app you use starts on when you first connect. Turn off any you don't want, then select Save in the save bar. The Pop-ups events switch also covers Spin the Wheel (Wheel of Fortune) discount codes.
Apps you have enabled that can send Klaviyo events appear first under Apps you use. Other apps appear under Other apps, which you can show or hide. If an app you have not enabled still has its events switched on, Other apps opens by itself so you can see what is being sent. If you have no apps that can send events enabled, all switches appear in one list. Each switch shows the Klaviyo metrics it sends.
An app sends events only when it is active on your live store and its switch is on.
Turning a switch off stops that app's events right away. Events already in Klaviyo stay there.
3. Choose who appears in your Klaviyo
Under Who appears in your Klaviyo, new Klaviyo connections default to Any identified shopper. Existing connections keep the audience option you previously saved:
- Any identified shopper. Activity from any shopper Vitals can identify by email (a review, a wishlist save by a logged-in customer, an order) is sent. If that person is not in your Klaviyo yet, Klaviyo creates a profile for them. New profiles count toward your Klaviyo plan.
- Subscribers and people already in your Klaviyo. Only activity from shoppers who gave marketing consent on a Vitals form or in your store, and from people already in your Klaviyo, is sent. Activity from anyone else is not sent, so flows will not start for them.
Will this add people to my email list? No. An event never subscribes anyone and never records marketing consent. Shoppers who gave consent join your list as before, whichever audience option you pick. With Any identified shopper, people without consent can get a profile, but they are not subscribed: Klaviyo only sends them marketing email if they subscribe.
Don't send the same email twice
Some Vitals apps already email your shoppers themselves: review requests and review discount emails (Product Reviews), and restock alerts, reminders and signup confirmations (Back in Stock). Before you build a Klaviyo flow for the same moment, pick one sender. Either keep the Vitals email, or turn it off in the app and let Klaviyo send it. The Back in Stock restock alert is always sent by Vitals and cannot be turned off, so do not build a Klaviyo flow that sends the same restock alert. Events are most useful for things Vitals doesn't email about, like a follow-up after a bundle order or an alert on a 1–2★ review.
4. Build a flow
In Klaviyo, go to Flows and select Create flow, then build it from scratch. As the trigger choose Metric and pick the metric with the Vitals icon, for example Review Submitted. A metric only appears in Klaviyo after the first event of that kind has been sent.
Ideas to start with, each with step-by-step instructions:
- Thank happy reviewers (Product Reviews)
- Catch unhappy customers early (Product Reviews)
- Follow up on bundle buyers (Upsell Builder)
- Win back shoppers who waited (Back in Stock)
- Tell Wishlist savers about a price drop (Wishlist)
- Welcome discount users (Pop-ups)
- Ask for a review after delivery (Order Tracker)
- Get ahead of delivery problems (Order Tracker)
The metrics Vitals sends
| App | Metrics |
|---|---|
| Product Reviews | Review Submitted, Review Published |
| Back in Stock | Restock Alert Requested, Restock Alert Triggered |
| Wishlist | Wishlist Item Added, Wishlist Item Removed, Wishlist Viewed, Wishlist Shared, Wishlist Price Dropped, Wishlist Item Low In Stock |
| Upsell Builder | Upsell Offer Selected, Upsell Offer Accepted, Upsell Product Ordered |
| Pop-ups and Spin the Wheel | Pop-up Discount Redeemed |
| Order Tracker | Shipment In Transit, Shipment Out For Delivery, Shipment Delivered, Shipment Delayed, Shipment Stalled, Shipment Delivery Failed, Shipment Available For Pickup, Shipment Returned To Sender, Tracking Page Viewed |
Good to know
- Wishlist and upsell selections from the storefront are sent only for shoppers logged in to their customer account.
- Imported reviews never send events.
- Upsell Offer Accepted, Upsell Product Ordered and Pop-up Discount Redeemed carry the order's value, so Klaviyo can attribute that revenue to your flows. The other metrics carry no revenue.
