Vitals Help Center

Welcome discount users (Pop-ups, Spin the Wheel)

Last updated on October 13, 2026

A shopper who used the discount code from your pop-up or Spin the Wheel just placed their first order with you. The second order is the hard one. This flow starts in Klaviyo when a Vitals pop-up code is used on an order, and later sends a thank-you with an offer for the next order, only to shoppers who have not ordered again.

💡 Before you start: Klaviyo must be connected through the new connection, and your Shopify store connected to Klaviyo so that Klaviyo sees orders (the Placed Order metric). If you have not set up Klaviyo events yet, read Send Vitals events to Klaviyo first.

1. Turn on Pop-ups events in Vitals

Go to Integrations, find the Klaviyo card, and under Klaviyo events turn on Pop-ups events. Select Save. This switch also covers Spin the Wheel (Wheel of Fortune) codes.

The metric Pop-up Discount Redeemed appears in Klaviyo after the first order that uses one of these codes.

2. Create the flow in Klaviyo

  1. In Klaviyo, go to Flows and select Create flow. Build it from scratch and name it, for example "Discount user second order".
  2. Choose Metric as the trigger and pick Pop-up Discount Redeemed (it has the Vitals icon).
  3. Optional: add a trigger filter source_app equals Pop-ups or Wheel of Fortune to run it for one of them only, or on popup_name for one pop-up.
  4. Add a flow filter: What someone has done (or not done) → Placed Order zero times since starting this flow.

3. Wait, then send the email

Add a Time delay long enough for the first order to arrive and be used, for example 14 days. Then add an Email. Anyone who ordered again in the meantime is skipped by the flow filter.

Example email:

Subject: Thanks for your first order, here's something for the next one

We hope you're enjoying your order. As a thank-you for shopping with us, here's 10% off your next one:

[your second-order code]

Valid for the next 30 days.

Create the second-order code in Shopify, or let Klaviyo generate unique codes for each shopper with its coupon feature.

Useful properties on Pop-up Discount Redeemed

  • discount_code: the code they used
  • popup_name, popup_id, source_app (Pop-ups or Wheel of Fortune)
  • order_id

Good to know

  • The event carries the order's total as its value, so Klaviyo can show the revenue your pop-up codes brought in.
  • Already running a "you haven't used your code yet" reminder? Add a flow filter Pop-up Discount Redeemed zero times since starting this flow to it, so it stops as soon as the code is used.
