Vitals Help Center

Win back shoppers who waited for a restock (Back in Stock)

Last updated on October 13, 2026

A shopper who asked to be told when a product is back is ready to buy, but the first alert is easy to miss. This flow starts in Klaviyo when Vitals Back in Stock sends its restock alert, waits 2 days, and sends a second nudge only to shoppers who have not ordered since.

Vitals still sends the restock alert itself, as it does today. This flow adds the follow-up.

💡 Before you start: Klaviyo must be connected through the new connection, and your Shopify store connected to Klaviyo so that Klaviyo sees orders (the Placed Order metric). If you have not set up Klaviyo events yet, read Send Vitals events to Klaviyo first.

1. Turn on Back in Stock events in Vitals

Go to Integrations, find the Klaviyo card, and under Klaviyo events turn on Back in Stock events. Select Save.

The metric Restock Alert Triggered appears in Klaviyo after the first restock alert Vitals sends.

2. Create the flow in Klaviyo

  1. In Klaviyo, go to Flows and select Create flow. Build it from scratch and name it, for example "Restock second nudge".
  2. Choose Metric as the trigger and pick Restock Alert Triggered (it has the Vitals icon).
  3. Add a trigger filter: source_app equals Back in Stock.
  4. Add a flow filter: What someone has done (or not done) → Placed Order zero times since starting this flow.

3. Wait 2 days, then send the email

Add a Time delay of 2 days, then an Email. The flow filter is checked again before the email goes out, so anyone who ordered in the meantime is skipped.

Example email:

Subject: {{ event.product_title }} is still in stock, for now

You asked us to let you know when {{ event.product_title }} {{ event.variant_title|default:'' }} was back. It is, and it won't last long.

Useful properties on Restock Alert Triggered

  • product_title, variant_title, product_url, product_image_url, product_price, currency
  • days_waiting: how long the shopper waited
  • source_app: the app that sent the alert

Good to know

  • Back in Stock sends events only for shoppers who signed up with their email and ticked the marketing consent box. SMS signups and signups without consent never reach Klaviyo, so this flow covers your consented email waitlist.
  • A shopper who signs up without consent and opts in on a later visit is sent to Klaviyo from that moment.
