How to check location-based features

Quite a few apps in Vitals use geolocation. The list includes:

• Currency Converter
• Cookie Banner
• Spin the Wheel
• Free Shipping Bar (part of the Announcement Bars app)
• Shipping Info

Testing how these apps would perform from a visitor from another country can be easy. You have two options:

Install the Opera Browser

The Opera browser has a built-in VPN. It's not an advanced feature since you can only choose between few locations, like Europe or America, not a specific country. Still, it should do the trick on general testing. If you don't have it on your computer, install it, enable the VPN feature and open your store. That's it!

Install a VPN

If you're using Chrome on your computer, just like most of us (the latest statistics give it a > 60% market share), it's easy to install a VPN Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store. You can start using any free or paid VPN from any provider. Then:

1. Allow your VPN extension to run in incognito.
   
   Just go to chrome://extensions/ in your browser, click on detail, then activate the Allow in incognito toggle.

2. Open a new incognito window in your browser.
   
   This step is important because we store the visitors' location in the browser's local storage once detected. This improves the load speed, as the location detection is only done on the first access of that visitor.

3. Activate the VPN and choose a specific location to teleport 💫yourself there
4. Open your store in the incognito window, and you'll see Vitals behaving in an intended way for that location.
   
   Ensure you don't have multiple incognito windows open simultaneously as cookies and local storage are shared between multiple incognito tabs or windows.
