How does the Discount Competition works?

Vitals has this logic we call Discount Competition. When two, or more, offers target the same products, they fall into the logic of discount competition. This means that only one of them will win. The higher the discount in absolute numbers, the more chances to win. The discount that is applied to the order is the one that won the competition.

Do Spending Goal offers fall under the discount competition?

Yes, the Spending Goal campaigns fall under the discount competition logic.

How cart suggestion Conflict State works?

Normally, the cart suggestions are displayed when 50%, or less, of the entire offer can be offered as a suggestion. However, the cart suggestions enter a Conflict State in some cases. When they are in this conflict state, they are not displayed on the cart page at all. They enter this state when the discount suggested would not be able to be applied to the order.

For example, if a Spending Goal offer is at 99% progress, and a cart suggestion would recommend adding another product to complete a Product Bundle, the PB suggestion will enter in conflict with the Spending Goal. If the Goal’s reward is bigger than the PB’s, the suggestion to complete the PB offer will not be displayed. The reason is that if it did, it would be a fake suggestion, because the PB discount will not be applied and only the Goal discount would be applied.

So this logic is to protect the customers from receiving bad/fake/incorrect cart suggestions, that would not apply in reality.
