Saved a change but don't see it on your store?

Last updated on October 31, 2026

You changed a setting in Vitals, but your store still shows the old version. Go through the checks below in order.

If the app doesn't show on your store at all, start with Vitals apps not appearing on your store? instead.

1. The change wasn't saved

  • After you change a setting, click Save in the bar at the top of the page. If you leave the page without saving, the change is lost.
  • Open the app again and check that it shows your new value.

2. Your browser shows an older copy of the page

Browsers keep a copy of pages you visited, so you can see an older version of your store after a change.

  • Give it a couple of minutes after saving, then reload the page.
  • Clear your browser cache, or open your store in a new Incognito (private) window. This shows your store the way a first-time visitor sees it. How to open one: How to use the Incognito mode.
  • Some widgets, such as pop-ups, stay hidden for a visitor after they close them. A new Incognito window shows them again.

3. You're looking at a different theme

  • Check that you are viewing your live (published) theme, not a draft theme or a theme preview.
  • The Vitals app embed is turned on per theme. If you check your store on another theme, the Vitals app embed must be on in that theme too. Steps: Enabling the Vitals app via App Embed.
  • If Vitals shows the banner Vitals isn't visible on your store yet, click Turn on app embed.

4. You're checking inside the Shopify theme editor

  • The theme editor doesn't show every widget. For example, pop-ups don't appear there, and the Cookie Banner doesn't appear in theme previews.
  • Check the change on your live store instead.

5. The app is switched off

  • Open the app in Vitals. If you see Activate app at the top instead of Active, the app is off. Click Activate app.

6. A display rule or device setting hides it

  • Open the app's settings and expand Advanced display rules. An Active filters badge means a rule is set. Check that it doesn't leave out the product you are looking at. More: Displaying apps only on specific products using Display Rules.
  • Some apps can be limited to desktop or mobile, with settings such as Show on desktop, Show on mobile or Hide on mobile. Upsell Builder offers have their own Show on option: Any device, Mobile or Desktop or tablet.
  • Check your store on the same kind of device the setting is for.

7. Your store shows another language

If your store has more than one language, or a language other than English, app texts are saved for each language.

  • Check which language your store page is in (for example, /fr/ in the page address).
  • Open the app in Vitals, click Translate at the top of its page, choose that language and change the text there.
