Known Discount Conflicts

Vitals Upsell Builder discounts are applied at checkout as Shopify automatic discounts. If a discount doesn't show at checkout, check these common causes:

1. Another discount can't combine with Vitals

Shopify only applies discounts together when their combination settings allow it. In Vitals, open any discount offer and check Discount combinations at the bottom of the discount card: it sets which other discounts (product, order and shipping discounts) your offers can combine with, for all your offers. For your own discount codes, automatic discounts and other apps' discounts, open them in Shopify admin > Discounts and allow them to combine with product discounts (and order discounts if you use a Spending Goal). For example, to combine a Shopify automatic discount on products or collections with a Vitals Gift offer, turn on Product discounts (on cart items) in Vitals and Product discounts in the Shopify discount's Combinations.

2. Gift-offer progress and checkout use different totals

For Gift offers, the widget's progress normally counts qualifying items after product discounts, while checkout evaluates the gift discount at full price. This can make the progress shown in the widget differ from the total evaluated at checkout.

3. Bundle or Buy X Get Y items were added to the cart separately

Product Bundle and Buy X Get Y discounts apply when the shopper adds the offer through its widget. If the products are added to the cart one by one, the discount isn't applied. See Understanding How Vitals Upsell Offers Now Work with Shopify Functions.

4. The Vitals automatic discount was deleted

If a [DO NOT DELETE] Vitals Automatic Discount was deleted in Shopify admin, offers can still show on your store while their discount isn't applied. Publish the affected offers again to restore it. See Understanding How Vitals Upsell Offers Now Work with Shopify Functions.

5. A Volume Discount add-on uses Fixed price

For a Volume Discount tier add-on, Fixed price can appear correctly in the widget but the add-on may be charged at its full price at checkout. Use Amount off or Percentage off instead, with a value that gives the same final price. Publish the offer, add the item through the widget and check the cart price. Fixed price on the Volume Discount tier itself works as expected.

6. A custom checkout is used

Vitals discounts work with the standard Shopify checkout. Apps that replace Shopify's checkout with their own may not apply them. Please use the standard Shopify checkout.
