How to Temporarily Disable the Vitals App on Your Shopify Store

If you're troubleshooting an issue in your store, you might need to check if the Vitals app is causing the problem. Since Vitals is a comprehensive app, it's common for merchants to suspect it when things go awry. We're happy to assist in identifying the root cause!

Below are two methods to temporarily disable the Vitals app, allowing you to determine if it's contributing to the issue.

Method 1: Disable Vitals Using the App Embeds Menu

1. Open the Shopify Theme Editor:
   • Log in to your Shopify admin, go to "Online Store," and click "Customize" next to your active theme.
2. Locate the Vitals App:
   • In the left-hand "App embeds" menu, find the Vitals app.
3. Turn Off the Vitals App:
   • Switch the toggle to "Off."
4. Save Your Changes:
   • Click the "Save" button in the top-right corner.

Method 2: Disable Vitals Using Chrome Developer Tools

If you're comfortable using developer tools, this method offers a quick way to prevent Vitals from loading temporarily:

1. Open Your Store in Google Chrome.
2. Access Chrome Developer Tools:
   • Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect, OR
   • Use the shortcut:
     • Ctrl + Shift + I (Windows)
     • Command + Option + I (Mac), OR
   • From Chrome's menu, navigate to: ⋮ → More Tools → Developer Tools.
3. Filter Vitals Requests:
   • Select the Network tab in Developer Tools.
   • Type vitals in the search bar on the left of this section.
4. Block the Vitals Domain:
   • Refresh the page.
   • Right-click on any file related to Vitals and select Block request domain.
   • This should block the domain: cdn-sf.vitals.app.
5. Verify the Change:
   • Refresh your store page again to see how it loads without Vitals.
